TAVIX PIX’ TO LAUNCH AT AFM WITH ECLECTIC SLATE
Oct 27, 2008
Hollywood, California.
Producer Casey Evans and director Brad Jurjens are launching their new
distribution entity Tavix Pictures at AFM, November 5 – 12, 2008 at the Loews
Hotel in Santa Monica. They will sell
the domestic and international rights to their impressive slate including the
action film Hired Gun, filmmaker John W. Kim’s Hitchcockian thriller Blur
and Michael O’Brien’s baby-boomer rockumentary Going to Whatstock?
Dedicated to producing quality
films through collaborative development, Evans and Jurjens have also been able
to secure financing for their upcoming films.
According to Evans, “Tavix Pictures has and will continue to evolve with
the industry to be the most efficient, dedicated company that can cut
‘standard’ costs in half by re-organizing workflow and keeping pace with
current technology trends that are associated with every aspect of filmmaking
from production through distribution.”
Written and directed by
Jurjens, Hired Gun is an action thriller that calls on the
prescient theme of domestic terrorism starring Michael Madsen (Reservoir
Dogs, Kill Bill and Sin City), Ilia Volokh (Indiana
Jones 4, Charlie Wilson’s War), Fahim Fazli (Iron Man, Eagle
Eye), Said Faraj (Ghost, The Green Zone) and Johan
Urb (Dirt,
The
Hottie and the Nottie). Also on board to add their technological expertise
are sound editor Steve Flick, who won an Academy Award for his work on Speed,
visual effects artist Mark Lasoff, who won an Academy Award on the mega-hit Titanic
and veteran score mixer Steve Kempster, whose credits include Armageddon,
Enemy
of the State and The Bourne Identity.
Blur, a psychological
thriller in the realm of Rear Window stars Charlie Hofheimer
(Black
Hawk Down, The Village) and Katherine Towne (Blades of Glory, Mulholland
Drive, What Lies Beneath). The film marks the feature debut of
award-winning filmmaker John W. Kim, whose short It’s A Horrible Life won
the Eveo national short film prize in 2003.
Kim also co-edited the Student Academy Award nominee Tell
Me while at USC. Blur
has been accepted to the 2008 International Film Festival in England and the
2009 British Film Festival in LA.

the world famous and legendary restaurant Toi on Sunset, as they reunite with
their 1960’s band to play one last time at “Goodstock” a music festival in celebration of the original Woodstock co produced by the
producer of Woodstock, Artie Kornfeld on the 40th anniversary of "The
Summer of Love-” 1967. The
inspirational film also features Ed Begley, Jr., reminiscing about the 60’s,
