LOS ANGELES &
SEATTLE – May 29, 2007 – Getty Images (NYSE:GYI) today announced that it is the
official footage partner for FOX’s new competition reality series, “On the Lot,”
providing filmmakers a custom library of Getty Images Footage clips each week.
Produced by Mark Burnett Productions, DreamWorks Television and Amblin
Television, “On the Lot” features a cast of undiscovered
filmmakers who compete to win the support of the show's viewers through a weekly
audience vote.
Every week the filmmakers will
produce short films from a chosen genre - from comedies to thrillers, personal
dramas to romance, sci-fi to horror - drawing upon the best resources the
industry has to offer such as professional writers, cast and crew, and possibly
even Hollywood celebrities. Through the Getty Images partnership, contestants
will now have access to the industry’s top footage archive providing relevant,
high-quality clips across the diverse genres.
“On The Lot will feature the best
undiscovered filmmakers competing for an unprecedented prize - a million dollar
movie deal with DreamWorks,” said David Goffin, executive producer from Mark
Burnett Productions. “Therefore, it makes sense that we have available for our
contestants the very best footage libraries in the business to help make their
films as good as they possibly can be. In our experience there is no better
resource for this task than Getty Images.”
“Artfully
incorporating pre-shot footage can be essential to the success of a short film,
especially when delivering on small budgets and short timeframes,” said Darryl
Frank and Justin Falvey, co-executive producers from DreamWorks Television.
“Getty Images Footage is at the forefront of trends in filmmaking and we’re
delighted to offer it as an extraordinary tool for
contestants.”
“Given Getty
Images’ tradition of working with the creative community to develop unique and
compelling projects, a partnership with ‘On the Lot’ is an ideal fit,” said
Craig Peters, vice president of footage and multimedia at Getty Images. “We’re
thrilled to be a part of this engaging show and to offer our footage collections
to this promising new group of talent.”
As short films or videos are even
easier to create and distribute over new viewing platforms like the internet and
mobile devices, Getty Images recognizes the filmmakers’ challenge in shooting it
all themselves. Finding and licensing the footage they need, when they need it
is now easier than ever at http://gettyimages.com/film.
