The landmark UN Millennium
Ecosystem Report recently issued a dire warning: “Human activity is putting such a strain on
the natural functions of Earth that the ability of the planet’s ecosystems to
sustain future generations can no longer be taken for granted.”

In the midst of this urgency,
the annual Bioneers Conference
presents leading scientists and social innovators who are creating practical
solutions to help restore the Earth’s imperiled ecosystems and heal our human
communities.

This year, the Bioneers
Conference will feature social change agents sharing new strategies for
environmental and social justice, local food systems, sustainable communities,
social healing through the arts and much more.
Our keynote speakers for
these events will include— Van Jones,
activist and founder of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights; Paul Anastas, the "father of green chemistry"; Winona LaDuke, indigenous rights
leader; and Eve Ensler, awarding
winning playwright and founder of V-Day, helping women around the world reclaim
peace, power and pleasure.

Workshops
will explore solutions to local and regional issues and offer ample time for
networking. Presenters at the 2007 Bioneers Conference Workshops will discuss
topics including:
- Building
Local Living Economies and Successful Social Ventures with social entrepreneurs Don Shaffer, Judy
Wicks, Elliot Hoffman and Dune Lankard.
- Green
Building in an Age of Mega-Cities and Meta-Collapse with green builder John Abrams; Matt Petersen,
founder of Global Green USA; and Stewart Brand, founder of Whole Earth
Catalogue.
- Women
Re-Imagining the World with
writers Alice Walker and Jean Shinoda Bolen, author and teacher Joanna
Macy, executive director of Oakland's Destiny Arts Center Sarah Crowell,
and Bioneers co-producer Nina Simons.

Grandmothers will offer their dreams,
visions and prayers on site this year at daily council sessions, panel
presentations and a screening of the film that was made last year during the
spacebridge at the Bioneers conference.
