AFM 2007 HIGHLIGHTS

 

  • For the fourth consecutive year, AFM has reached full capacity, having sold out all exhibition space at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel and Le Merigot Beach Hotel.

 

  • A total of 430 production/distribution companies from 30 countries are exhibiting at this year’s AFM.

 

·         Attendance in all categories for this year’s AFM is pacing ahead of last year’s record attendance of 8,208.

 

·         In just eight days, it’s projected that more than $800 million in deals on over 1,000 projects in all stages of production will be sealed.

 

  • This year, AFM will hold more than 900 screenings of 537 films from October 31 to November 7.
    • 30 films screened every two hours.
    • 34 languages will be featured on this year’s screenings slate.

 

  • 36 films selected for this year’s AFI FEST are represented at the AFM.

 

  • The majority of films to be screened during AFM are either world industry or market premieres.
    • 104 industry world premieres will take place at AFM.

 

    • 371 films will make their market premieres in Santa Monica.

 

    • World premieres include “Carnera,” starring F. Murray Abraham and Paul Sorvino (Epic Pictures Group, Inc.); “Flick,” with Faye Dunaway (AV Pictures Ltd); “Sanjuro,” written by the late Akira Kurosawa (Toho Co., Ltd.); “Smart People,” with Thomas Hayden-Church, Sarah Jessica Parker and Dennis Quaid (QED International); and “The Neighbor,” with Matthew Modine (Curb Entertainment International Corp.), among others.

 

    • Other notable screenings are, to name a few, “All God's Children Can Dance,” starring Joan Chen (Kimmel International); “Anamorph,” with Willem Dafoe (Mainline Releasing); “Battle in Seattle,” with Charlize Theron, Woody Harrelson and Ray Liotta (Hyde Park International); Julian Schnabel’s “Berlin,” with Lou Reed (Fortissimo Film Sales); “Bill,” starring Jessica Alba, Aaron Eckhart and Timothy Olyphant (GreeneStreet Films); “Blood Brothers” from producer John Woo (Fortissimo Film Sales); “Death Defying Acts,” starring Guy Pearce and Catherine Zeta-Jones (Myriad Pictures); “Disengagement,” with

    • A full screening schedule and list of films available during AFM 2007 and additional information is located in the AFM Catalogue of Films (www.afmfilms.org), the market’s online resource housing more than 3,800 motion pictures available at the AFM, including 900 trailers.  Visitors to the site can search films by a number of categories, including genre, language, production status, budget, director, cast, company and title.  Functioning as a year-round service, the Catalogue of Films will also list titles available at EFM, Filmart and Cannes.
