- ContentFilm has revealed today that
Malin Akerman has joined the cast of THE NUMBERS STATION, starring opposite
previously announced two-time Oscar ® nominee Ethan Hawke. Kasper Barfoed
(The Candidate) will direct.
This fast-paced action thriller combines suspense,
twists and turns and promises an explosive and mind-blowing climax. Akerman is
currently co-starring with Katie Holmes in ‘The Romantics’ which opens in
this week and in ‘The Bang Bang Club’ with Ryan Philippe and Taylor
Kitsch which will premiere next week at the Toronto International
Film Festival. She also recently starred in hits such as ‘The Proposal’,
‘Watchmen’, and ‘Couples Retreat’ while Hawke was recently seen in
“Daybreakers” and “Brooklyn’s Finest” and
directed the critically acclaimed off-broadway play, “A Lie Of The Mind.” He is
currently in production on “The Woman In The Fifth”.
The script is penned by F. Scott Frazier.
Principal photography is due to start early 2011.
More cast will be announced shortly.
Hawke plays Emerson, a disgraced black ops agent tasked with a dead-end
job protecting Katherine played by Akerman, the code operator for a small CIA
broadcast station in the middle of the Nevada
desert. Emerson’s mission is simple: protect Katherine. Keep her
safe and keep her secure. When the station is under attack, their
priority is to make it out alive…
The film is produced by Sean and Bryan Furst (Daybreakers, The
Matador, The Girl in The Park, The Cooler) as well as Ethan Hawke under his
banner Under The Influence Productions, with the company’s Ryan Hawke on board
as executive producer. Hawke is represented by CAA and attorney George
Sheanshang. Chris Cowles and Chris Fenton of H2F Entertainment will serve
as executive producers on the film.

Furst Films is also very active in television, and recently wrapped production
on the pilot for TOUGH TRADE, an original series conceived by the
Fursts and writer Chris Offutt. The Fursts are executive producing the
series, along with Jenji Kohan (Weeds) and Oscar and Grammy winning
producer T-Bone Burnett. The pilot for Tough Trade was directed
by Academy Award® winner Gavin Hood and will be the inaugural show for the new
premium cable network Epix (a partnership between Paramount, Lions Gate and MGM). In
